The Zoom Native Integration records your meetings with Zoom's own cloud recording, so no Notetaker joins the call. Jiminny imports the recording afterwards for transcription and AI analysis. If your team records with the Notetaker instead, see How your Zoom Notetaker works.
Zoom requirements
Your Zoom admin configures these in the Zoom web portal under Account Settings → Recording.
Cloud Recording — Required. Turn it on and select Record active speaker with shared screen. Jiminny imports the video recording, so an audio-only recording does not appear in Jiminny. See Enabling cloud recording.
Add a timestamp to the recording and Create audio transcript — Required. Both are under Advanced cloud recording settings. Jiminny uses them to identify who is speaking. Without them, speakers can be merged or attributed to the wrong person.
Licensed Zoom seat — Required for every host whose meetings should be recorded. Pro, Business and Enterprise are all supported. On Pro accounts the settings above are often not selected by default, so check each one, and if Create audio transcript is missing ask Zoom support to enable it.
Matching email addresses — Required. Each user's Zoom email must match their Jiminny email. This is how Jiminny recognises the host.
Automatic Recording — Configure according to your organisation's policy. Turn it on in Zoom and leave it unlocked if you want Zoom to start cloud recording automatically. Jiminny does not enable or force this setting. See Enabling and disabling automatic recording.
Note: These settings apply per host. A user who turns Cloud Recording off in their personal Zoom settings cannot be recorded natively at all, and a user who turns Automatic Recording off is recorded only when they press Record to the Cloud during the meeting.
Connect the Zoom Native Integration
You need admin permissions in Jiminny and owner or admin access to your company's Zoom account.
Go to Organisation Settings → Integrations.
In the Video Integrations section, find Zoom Native and select Connect.
Sign in to Zoom with an owner or admin account and approve the permissions requested by the Jiminny for Zoom Meetings app.
The integration is connected once for your whole organisation. To stop using it, select Disable on the same card.
Note: The integration disconnects if the person who connected it later stops being a Zoom owner or admin. Reconnect it with another Zoom admin account to continue recording. A Zoom account can be connected to one Jiminny organisation at a time. If your company uses Jiminny in both the US and the EU, use a separate Zoom account for each region, as connecting the same Zoom account in a second region disconnects it from the first.
Who controls what is recorded
Three settings decide whether a meeting is captured:
Automatically Record Meetings in Jiminny's recording settings controls whether eligible meetings are imported without the user doing anything.
Record Internal Meetings in Jiminny's recording settings controls whether meetings between colleagues are imported.
Automatic Recording in Zoom controls whether Zoom starts the cloud recording when a meeting begins. Your Zoom admin owns this setting and Jiminny never changes it.
A meeting is captured automatically only when all three allow it. Jiminny decides which meetings qualify, exactly as it does for Notetaker recordings; Zoom decides whether a recording starts. If Jiminny expects Zoom to record a meeting but Zoom's Automatic Recording is off, the Notetaker and Desktop App are not sent as a fallback: the meeting is recorded only if the host presses Record to the Cloud, and is otherwise marked as not recorded.
How to use the integration
Nothing changes for your team. Schedule a meeting or webinar with a Zoom link and join as normal. Zoom records it to the cloud, and the call is ready in Jiminny around 30 minutes after it ends. The Notetaker does not join and the Jiminny Desktop App does not start recording, whichever recording method your organisation uses. Meetings shorter than 2 minutes are not recorded.
If Zoom does not start recording automatically and you need the meeting captured, select Record → Record to the Cloud in Zoom. The recording is imported into Jiminny like any other. Do not start the Jiminny Desktop App or invite the Notetaker unless you intentionally want a second recording made with your usual recording method.
The host stays in control through Zoom's own recording controls:
If the host stops the cloud recording during the meeting, the meeting does not appear in Jiminny.
If the host starts a cloud recording manually, for example in an ad-hoc meeting, it is imported when it qualifies under your recording settings.
What happens when native recording cannot be used
Jiminny checks each meeting before it starts. When the meeting cannot be recorded natively, it is recorded with your organisation's usual recording method, either the Notetaker or Invisible Recording with the Jiminny Desktop App. This happens when:
The host does not have a Licensed Zoom seat or is not in your company's Zoom account.
The meeting was scheduled by someone other than the user, for example a colleague, an assistant or a customer.
The meeting uses a Personal Meeting Room link (zoom.us/my/…) or an instant meeting invite.
Your organisation uses Jiminny's recording consent prompts, which need the Notetaker in the call.
This is automatic. When the Notetaker records the meeting, it needs the Zoom permissions described in How your Zoom Notetaker works.
Recordings in your Zoom cloud storage
Imported recordings stay in Zoom by default. If you want Jiminny to be the only place your recordings live, an admin can turn on Delete recordings from Zoom once retrieved by Jiminny under Organisation Settings → Recording → Conference. Zoom recordings of meetings shorter than 2 minutes are not imported and are moved to the Zoom trash, where they can be recovered for 30 days.
Recordings that Jiminny does not import, such as internal meetings when internal recording is off, stay in your Zoom cloud storage. To remove them automatically, turn on Delete cloud recordings after a specified number of days in Zoom, described in Managing cloud recording settings. You may also want to turn off Zoom's When a cloud recording is available email notification, as Jiminny notifies users when their call is ready.
Things to know
Live listening and live coaching are not available for natively recorded meetings, because the recording only exists after the meeting ends.
Breakout rooms are not recorded.
Back-to-back meetings on the same Zoom link merge into one recording unless the host stops and restarts the recording between them.
Inviting the Notetaker or starting a Desktop App recording on a meeting Zoom is already recording creates two entries in Jiminny, one per recording. This is expected.
FAQ
1. My meeting ended but I can't see the call in Jiminny yet. Is something wrong?
1. My meeting ended but I can't see the call in Jiminny yet. Is something wrong?
Calls are ready around 30 minutes after the meeting ends. If no recording started in Zoom, the meeting is marked as not recorded about two hours after it ends.
2. Does this mean every Zoom meeting in my organisation is recorded?
2. Does this mean every Zoom meeting in my organisation is recorded?
Zoom records every meeting hosted by a user who has automatic recording turned on. Jiminny only imports the meetings that qualify under your recording settings, for example external meetings when internal recording is off. The rest stay in your Zoom cloud storage, which is why we recommend a retention period in Zoom.
3. I turned off automatic recording in my personal Zoom settings. Will my meetings still be recorded?
3. I turned off automatic recording in my personal Zoom settings. Will my meetings still be recorded?
Only if you press Record to the Cloud during the meeting. If you have also turned off cloud recording, your meetings cannot be recorded natively at all.
4. A colleague or assistant schedules meetings for our reps. Are those meetings recorded?
4. A colleague or assistant schedules meetings for our reps. Are those meetings recorded?
Zoom's native recording is only used for meetings the rep scheduled themselves. A meeting scheduled by someone else is treated as an attended meeting: it is recorded by your usual recording method when Record Attended Meetings is turned on in your recording settings. If it is off, the rep can still record the meeting by inviting the Notetaker with an instant invite.
5. I made a colleague co-host, or handed over host controls during the meeting. Who owns the call in Jiminny?
5. I made a colleague co-host, or handed over host controls during the meeting. Who owns the call in Jiminny?
The call belongs to the Zoom user whose account the meeting was scheduled under, which is where Zoom stores the recording. Making someone a co-host or passing host controls during the meeting does not change this. If the meeting matches a calendar event in Jiminny, the recording is attached to that event and its organiser.
6. Are Zoom webinars recorded?
6. Are Zoom webinars recorded?
Yes. Webinars you host are recorded and imported in the same way as meetings, as long as the same Zoom settings are in place. You do not need to add the Notetaker as a panelist.
7. Why did the Notetaker join my meeting even though the integration is connected?
7. Why did the Notetaker join my meeting even though the integration is connected?
The meeting did not qualify for native recording, so your usual recording method was used. The most common reasons are an unlicensed host, a meeting scheduled by someone else, a Personal Meeting Room link, or a mismatch between the host's Zoom and Jiminny email addresses.
8. The whole call is shown as one speaker, or the wrong people are named in the transcript. Why?
8. The whole call is shown as one speaker, or the wrong people are named in the transcript. Why?
Add a timestamp to the recording and Create audio transcript were not both on for the host when the meeting was recorded. Turn them on in Zoom's Advanced cloud recording settings for future meetings. Earlier recordings cannot be corrected.
9. What happens if a participant declines Zoom's recording consent?
9. What happens if a participant declines Zoom's recording consent?
Zoom's own consent flow governs the recording. If recording never starts or the host stops it, the meeting does not appear in Jiminny.
