Setting up job titles

Manage the standard and custom job titles your users choose from.

Job titles describe each person's role in your organisation. Users choose their title when they set up their account, and Admins can set it when inviting or editing a user. Titles give you extra search filters and richer reporting, and give Jiminny's AI context about who is speaking in a conversation — so accurate titles improve everything built on top of them.

This article is for Admins. You manage job titles from Organisation Settings > Job Titles.

Standard and custom titles

There are two types of job title. Standard titles are provided by Jiminny and cover the most common revenue-team roles — you choose which of them are available to your users. Custom titles are created by your organisation and are fully yours to rename or delete.

The Job Titles page shows each title's type, how many users are assigned to it, and whether it is active. Use the search box and the type filter to find a title quickly.

Adding a custom title

  1. Click Add Job Title in the top-right of the page;

  2. Enter a name — up to 40 characters. The characters < > { } $ ` are not allowed;

  3. Click Create.

The new title is active straight away and appears in the list users choose from.

Note: If your organisation uses single sign-on and your identity provider supplies a job title Jiminny doesn't have yet, it is created automatically as an active custom title.

Renaming a custom title

Click the edit icon on the title's row, change the name and click Save. Everyone assigned to the title keeps it under its new name.

Note: Standard titles cannot be renamed. If a standard title doesn't quite fit your organisation, make it inactive and add a custom title instead.

Making a standard title active or inactive

Click the edit icon on a standard title's row, use the Active toggle and click Save. Inactive titles won't appear for users to choose when they set up their account — anyone who already has the title keeps it.

Deleting a custom title

Click the delete icon on the title's row. If no one is assigned to the title, it is deleted straight away.

If users are assigned to it, you'll be asked to choose a Replacement Job Title. The affected users are listed in the dialog and are moved to the replacement when you confirm, so no one is left without a title.

FAQ

1. Why do some titles my team created now show as Standard?

When Jiminny refreshed its standard list in August 2026, any existing title with the same name as a new standard title was adopted as the standard version. Users kept their title — only the type changed.

2. Can two job titles have the same name?

Yes. You can create a custom title with the same name as an existing standard or custom title.
