If you use a custom set of Salesforce Task types, you can map these to your Jiminny activity types. When your team then log tasks through Jiminny, they will be saved correctly and feed into any reporting or existing processes. If you use Events instead of Tasks, a similar process applies (just substitute task for event in the instructions).
Salesforce Setup
Within Salesforce, Administrators must first enable Field Level Security for Type fields to allow updates and changes to be reflected in both Salesforce and Jiminny. Follow the instructions below to make sure this is enabled.
Classic Edition
- Visit Setup > Customize > Activities > Task Fields;
- Scroll down and click on the Type picklist;
- Click the Set Field-Level Security button;
- For each profile your team belongs to, tick the box next to Visible.
Next, you can optionally show the field under the relevant page layouts:
- Visit Setup > Customize > Activities > Task Page Layouts
- For each layout you want it to show on, click Edit
- Drag and drop Type from the Task Layout header into any area within Task Information
Lightning Edition
- Visit Setup > Platform Tools > Objects & Fields > Object Manager;
- Scroll down and click on the Task object;
- In the left menu, click Fields & Relationships;
- Scroll down and click on the Type field;
- Click the Set Field-Level Security button;
- For each profile your team belongs to, tick the box next to Visible.
Next, you can optionally show the field under the relevant page layouts:
- From the previous step, click Page Layouts on the left menu;
- For each layout you want it to show on, click the layout name;
- Drag and drop Type from the Task Layout header into any area within Task Information.
Jiminny Setup
Now Salesforce is configured, you just need to tell Jiminny which fields map together. For the mapping to work, the activity type in Jiminny must be named exactly the same as the API Name in Salesforce.
Remember, if the mapped fields are later renamed in either Jiminny or Salesforce and not reflected in both, the task logging will fail!
